Hello World – from Other Topics

You’ve found us, World. So, Hello!

I recall “Hello World!” being the printout from my first computer program written in Pascal in 1988. It seems it’s the traditional first message a programmer writes in most languages.

The goal of Other Topics is to discuss subjects that would seem irresistible thought candy, at least to someone. Examples might be as follows:

• apparently, a country can be carbon neutral while being a large exporter of oil
• France’s new left-wing government, elected at a time when the western world seems to be trending to the right
• the amount of nuclear waste produced by a nuclear generation plant per kWh of energy produced.

We’re just as curious as you are about such topics, and endless others as well. For academics, we will have perhaps dryer ones as well, about computer science, obscure words, etc.
